The Stewards "Americans" 10u
2006 spring challenge team placed 2nd in the new Carolina Challenge Baseball
league tournament April 28-30. Highlights from game 1 saw the
Stewards team play stellar defense with excellent pitching from starter
Richard Landis and relievers Chase Loomer and Justin Elliot. That
combined with timely hitting led to a 9-3 victory. Game 3 was a nail
biter with Stewards inching out a 9-8 victory on Frankie Walsh's clutch
base hit in the bottom of the 6th. In game 4 Stewards put it all
together with strong pitching from starter Chase Loomer and a dominant
hitting attack lead by Frankie Walsh (3-3), Justin Brooks (2-2) and
Zach Hamilton (2-2). The 11-1 victory took this group to their 1st
championship game appearance.
In the championship game a very strong
Piedmont team got off to a early lead. Stewards bats lead by Clay Worley
(2-3) and Ryan Jernigan (2-3) battled back but were defeated by Piedmont
10-4.

10u "Americans" team lead by Frankie Walsh with a .625 on base percentage (OBP)
