Christian Character College Scholarship Available .pdf documents: Purpose The purpose of the Stewards of the Game Christian Character College Scholarship Program is to award educational scholarships to deserving high school seniors who best exemplify Christ-like Character and have “lived out” the core values of Stewards of the Game in all aspects of their life. Program Description The Stewards of the Game Christian Scholarship will be awarded in May of each year to the high school senior who best exemplifies Christ-like Character and has lived-out the core values of Stewards of the Game. Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted through May 25th, 2012. Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000 Scholarship Funding Stipulations: Scholarship funds to be used for college tuition / books / room & board only. Tuition will be paid directly to the recipient’s college or university. Scholarship dollars can be applied to college expenses over multiple years, assuming the student maintains a 2.5 grade average and remains enrolled in good standing with the institution. This scholarship is non-renewable and will be awarded to a deserving candidate each year. Selection Process: Applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee noted below. Finalists will be selected based on established criteria. The Selection Committee will conduct interviews with each of the finalists. The scholarship winner will be announced in late May or early June timeframe. Currently, Stewards of the Game provides spring and fall baseball leagues, summer basketball camps and clinics, and winter basketball leagues. To date, over 1,000 families in the North Mecklenburg area have participated in Stewards of the Game as either a player, coach, or volunteer. The costs incurred to provide our baseball and basketball programs are funded through league registration fees and the generous financial support of individuals, corporate partners, and the community. All coaches and administrative supporters donate their time and talents on a volunteer, non-paid basis. Financial statements are available upon request. Eligibility Requirements - High School Senior: Open to males & females without regard to race or socio-economic background - Grade point average of 3.0 or better - Resident of North Mecklenburg or South Iredell County Selection Criteria - Demonstration of Christian Character / Stewards of the Game Core Values - Commitment to God: Demonstrated by Sacrificial Giving to Others and Personal Testimony - Academic Achievements - Athletic Participation during High School tenure as a player, coach or volunteer - Community Service - Participation in Stewards of the Game as a player, coach, or volunteer is not necessary but will be considered a plus in the selection process. - Letters of Recommendation from coaches, teachers, church and community leaders - Interview (Finalists Only) - Need |
