Coaches Creed
As a faith-based,
Christ-centered program, we think it is important that our head coaches share
some basic Christian beliefs so we can stay true to our mission of leading kids
closer to a relationship with Christ through sports. If we sign our kids up for
French class, we would expect the teacher to be able to speak French. Same
holds true for a Christ-centered sports program. The leaders of our teams
should be comfortable professing basic Christian beliefs. While we may all have
varying levels of comfort level in sharing those beliefs, we do think it's
important that we all believe in the fundamental principles of Christianity so
we can make the connections with our players between teaching life lessons
through sports and our faith. We would encourage head coaches to tap into
assistant coaches and parents who would like to assist with team devotionals.
We also have some terrific links on our website under the Devotional tab to help
you with this.
We are asking
all coaches to sign a copy of the
Creed.
We are
only asking coaches to sign this...not players or family members. We LOVE
having non-believers and unchurched folks involved and playing in Stewards of
the Game. In fact, that's a huge part of our vision...drawing people closer to
Christ. However, we do think the leaders of our teams do need to have professed
their belief and love for Christ as we are setting the tone of the team
experience.
If you are
coaching with us and have not already signed a copy of the
Creed please look it
over and mail it back to me at 14825 Ranson Road Huntersville, NC 28078.
Please contact me at 704.992.0681 if you have any questions about the
Creed and why we are
incorporating this into our program.
